Quality Inspection
Visual inspection: Check for surface defects (porosity, cracks, slag inclusion, incomplete fusion). Reinforcement should be 0~3mm, and undercut depth ≤0.5mm.
Non-destructive testing: Critical structures (e.g., pressure vessels, bridges) require UT (ultrasonic testing) or MT (magnetic particle testing) per standards to ensure internal quality.
Mechanical testing: For critical projects, sample for tensile and impact tests (especially low-temperature impact) to verify weld strength and toughness.
Safety Protection
Welding with E7018 electrodes generates fluoride-containing fumes (due to low-hydrogen coating components), which may harm health with long-term exposure. Operate in well-ventilated areas and wear N95 or higher-grade dust masks if necessary.
Wear full protective gear: welding clothing, helmet, goggles, and insulated gloves to avoid arc burns and electric shock.
Keep the work area away from flammable materials and equip fire extinguishers (e.g., dry powder).
