ER308LSi is a stainless steel welding wire, belonging to the austenitic chromium-nickel steel welding material category. It is an improved version of ER308L, characterized by low carbon (typically ≤0.03%) and high silicon (silicon content typically between 0.65% and 1.00%).
This composition design results in better weld pool fluidity and wettability during welding, producing a smooth and aesthetically pleasing weld appearance, making it particularly suitable for applications requiring high weld surface quality.
It is mainly used for welding common austenitic stainless steels such as 304, 304L, and 308L, and is widely used in industries such as petrochemicals, food processing, pharmaceutical equipment, pressure vessels, and rail transportation.
Its weld metal exhibits good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties; however, it should be noted that if base metal dilution leads to a fully austenitic or very low ferrite structure in the weld, its hot cracking susceptibility will be slightly higher than that of ordinary low-silicon welding wires.
This welding wire conforms to several international standards, such as AWS A5.9 ER308LSi and ASME SFA5.9.
